Our Software
Creating high-quality documentaries - not only short style documentaries but full-length ones as well - requires professional NLEs and composition software. GNETICS uses all kinds of video and audio editing software so our films can look their best. We use software such as Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Pro Tools, and several others to make sure each and every documentary and film are the highest quality they can be.
Final Cut Pro X​
Final Cut Pro X is our go-to video editor because it's fast, easy to learn, and has a "revolutionary" magnetic timeline that makes editing short films a breeze. Everyone in our group knows how to work with Final Cut Pro, which helps to keep our workflow tight and streamlined. Plus, with a huge library of available plugins (we use mainly mCamRig and Color Finale), we can do almost anything without needing any other software.
Adobe Premiere Pro
Literally, only one person on our team uses Premiere, but it serves its purpose. Our CEO Austin uses it when Final Cut's magnetic timeline is too inefficient to get the job done properly (mainly for long-form projects or projects that require tight integration with Adobe After Effects). It's slow and it crashes a lot, but we still love it for some reason.
Adobe After Effects
Adobe After Effects is used by our CEO to create animated lower thirds and custom animations that Final Cut isn't designed for. We frequently use it to animate text, titles, chroma key, and much more. Oh, and we love abusing motion blur :)
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is used any time we need to enhance a photo or make a thumbnail for one of our videos. We're not photographers, but it's got its place in our workflow.
AVID Pro Tools
Avid Pro Tools is our DAW, or digital audio workstation. We mainly use this software to record voice-overs and interviews from our Telefunken AK47-MKII microphone. Because Pro Tools is the industry choice of DAW, it's got lots of plugins that we use to clean up noisy audio and make it sound "crispy." Ever wonder why our studio interviews in our Black Male Educator documentary sound so clean? That's Pro Tools.
iZotope RX6
This industry-used plugin pack makes it easy for us to easily clean up noisy audio. We apply RX6 Voice De-Noise to almost all of our on-location interviews to remove excess background noise, and it does a fantastic job. Our Black Male Educators documentary would not have sounded nearly as good without this plugin pack.
