This short documentary gives a new perspective of education in the Galapagos Islands and shows how the Tomas de Berlanga school paves a way and sets standards for schools on the Santa Cruz island. Tomas de Berlanga, a private institution, is located on the Santa Cruz island which is apart of the Galapagos Islands.
The school was founded in 1994 by the island’s citizens who were in hopes of leading a cause for better education. Before the school was founded, education was insufficient and failed the students. Now, the Tomas de Berlanga school is setting excellent standards for how education in the Galapagos should be handled.
With the help of funding through private donors, the school offers education to students of all socioeconomic backgrounds and ensures that the students are able to get the best education that they can receive.
